Does the story of Pyramus and Thisbe remind you of Romeo and Juliet?

I think that the story of Pyramus and Thisbe is somewhat like the story of Romeo and Juliet. In both stories, the guy (Pyramus/Romeo) thinks that the girl (Thisbe/Juliet) is dead, and kills himself. Then she sees him dead and kills herself! Also, they are both tragic and sad (if performed the right way...)

  1. Yeah, while I was writing my summary, I remembered the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet, but the play Pyramus and Thisbe is a lot shorter than Romeo and Juliet. I think that Shakespeare likes to write about tragic stories or least is really good at them (I think that might be the reason why the of ending A Midsummer Night's Dream was so bad).

  2. I agree Deijah. The play also reminded me of Romeo and Juliet. Do you think that maybe Shakespear likes to write tradiges? Just about every single play I've read by him is pretty sad.

    Anyway...GOOD POST!! :D

  3. Thanks for commenting you guys!
Yes, i think Shakespeare definetly liked writing tragedies. Do you think that maybe he wrote so many tragedies because his life was tragic?

  4. Kind of but it doesn't seem like Pyramus and Thisbe are star crossed lovers like Romeo and Juliet, but how would we know since we barely got the whole play and it was all a mockery!
